URINE EXAMINATION, ROUTINE; URINE, R/E
Urine analysis is one of the most useful laboratory tests as it identifies a wide range of medical conditions including renal damage, urinary tract infections, diabetes, hypertension and drug toxicity.
COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT; CBC
CBC provides information about red cells, white cells and platelets. Results are useful in the diagnosis of anemia, infections, leukemias, clotting disorders and many other medical conditions.
Increasing concentrations of Total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol are both correlated with increasing risk of cardiovascular disease. The levels are used to monitor response to cholesterol lowering therapy.
Hemoglobin levels are used to diagnose type and degree of anemia. Several factors like age, sex, pregnancy and diurnal variations are to be considered before diagnosis of anemia is made on the basis of a single hemoglobin estimation.
Hypertension is one of the leading causes of global burden of disease contributing to 13-15% of total deaths. Hypertension doubles the risk of cardiovascular diseases including Congestive Heart Failure, Ischaemic and Hemorrhagic stroke, Renal failure and Peripheral arterial disease.
MEAN PLATELET VOLUME; MPV
MPV varies inversely with the platelet count in normal subjects. It is lowered when thrombocytopenia is caused by Megaloblastic anemia or bone marrow failure. It is generally higher in Myeloproliferative disorders, Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), massive hemorrhage and thrombocytopenia due to sepsis.
Urine glucose is used as a follow up test in diabetic patients. It is also used for screening diabetes in general population.
VITAMIN D3-25 Hydroxy
LC-MS/MS is the gold standard technique for accurate quantification of vitamin D3. It also measures 3 epi 25 hydroxy vitamin D3 to increase accuracy of the test.
